I heard the news earlier that Microsoft is due to buy Yahoo to the tune of $50B . Is this a done deal? Definitely Microsoft has been forging an alliance with Yahoo. One indication is the interconnection of YM and MSN.

Microsoft has been trying to monopolize the internet. It seems to be bent on doing that. Remember what it did with the popular browser then Netscape? It gave its own browser for free if you acquire its Windows OS. However, the internet seems to be Google's internet's turf.

This kind of reminds of the old Alta Vista story. Alta Vista was at one time the worlds largest search engine until Yahoo beat them. Then Yahoo was the worlds largest search engine and it bought Alta Vista which basically become the end of that search engine. I wonder what will happen to Yahoo in the future if MSN does end up buying them.

if microsoft is going to buy then the case of google becomes worse. we could then see microsoft flooding the market and the web.anyways alwayz microsoft rockz.. then a situation would arise after 2 or 3 three years where google will have to sell its stake.

Microsoft might be experienced in software, but they can't do anything on internet coning over google. They already have hotmail and MSN services which is not interested by most of the people. Whether they buy the yahoo or not, it is not going to affect the google.
