New Websites on Yahoo

How in the world do you get a new website to rank on Yahoo?
I'm writing articles around low competition keywords, sometimes well under 1,000 competing on Yahoo and I don't seem to rank for months. I may get into the index but don't rank for the keywords.

You also need to acquire backlinks for your site and not just concentrate on adding content in it.
