Does Yahoo waste too much money on meaningless programs? How does Yahoo profit from Yahoo groups, etc. Doesn't it only make money with search?

Not really. Yahoo is a portal so it kind of works on a social foundation I think. Yahoo used to be a bustling community where members could shop, review movies, chat, play games etc. While it still offers all of this, it failed to move forward in keeping up with the current pace of social community progression. Now YouTube, Myspace, Digg, and the other social networking sites are sucking the life out of Yahoo and they are doing too little too late.

On top of that Google is KILLING them and their search engine.

They make money through ads on Yahoo groups. In fact, they are pretty aggressive with ads on their groups.

What I find funny and yet sad, is Yahoo had a chance to buy Google, not once but three times, first for one million, then again for one billion and finally for two billion and in all cases, turned them down. Talk about regret.

all of the services of yahoo have their ads on, they are profiting much on these ads.

Hi guys,I don't think yahoo is wasting money on meaningless programs but I really think it's a good method to earn money.If you want to make more money tomorrow,you must pay some checks today.
