Default Mario Website review

Everyone's favourite video game character has a website worthy of his name? That's what I am hoping to find out! Mario Mayhem is my site, and is growing every day...well when I get the time to update it ;0 What do you think of it so far? Any additions I could make?

Reviews welcome!

Ok, here are some of my thoughts :

- A nice clear and simple design
- Ads are very well embedded
- What i don't like that much are the animated gifs; They always confuse me, but that's maybe just my fault

All in all, well done !

Thanks a lot for the post martin! When you say that the animated gifs confuse you which ones do you mean? the ones in the navigation or the ones up the top left and right?

Both. Like i said, it's maybe just my fault. Whenever there animated gifs or ads i feel distracted. I know that there are lots of people who like them, because they are eye-catching. Let's see what the other forum users think about them.

Hrm my main aim with the animations was to make the site more Mario-ish, and Mario styled things are usually busy and colourful, so I added them to compensate for the black background. I may have a dig in my collection and see if I can find some images that maybe look better in their place.

Thanks again!

I understand your point. I played Mario myself and know how crazy, moving and fast it is. So it is no bad idea at all, to transfer it on the site. Maybe you can reduce the number of animated gifs.

it is nice and simply, and it would probably be good to leave it at that, however since it is a site for mario, i think giving the buttons at the menu life wouldnt be a bad idea, something like being written in a fancy script where a letter or two are switched from characters from mario.

I saw this site when I was looking for some mario gaming stuff. It has many good content and helped me a lot.
Probably you should make it more colorful and it will look good to me.

It feels cramped. I was expecting something bigger to read. Also, the black just doesn't feel very Mario-ish to me.
