HOw much thought do you put into the colors you use on your website. I have read that certain colors can help to motivate people to pay closer attention to your website and to the "call to action" of your site.

I use a light layout so it's easy to read. vbulletin's default colors aren't bad if you are lazy and don't want to think of any. White and blue matches just fine for me.

Contrasting colours and easy on the eye colours are often the best choice to go with. A page full of super bright and dull colours just turn away users in my opinion.

colors are so important in designing your website. They really affect the visitors opinion of coming back. You should use colors related to your website and get your visitot in the mood to read the content. Try to use as basic color as you can. and not so much colors.

i play around with colors all the time. it's definitely a big part in my decision on what design to take on. i usually do a design in different color scheme just to see which one would look best, or which one the client would prefer.

Shouldn't you stay away from certain colors that may not be viewed as well on some monitors/computers as others?

IMO not. That was part of the idea that some monitors only support 256 colors, but nowadays everybody has at least 16 bit colors.

Oh ok because I have read certain tips that say to use only the "safe colors" which is to be among the 256 colors.

A website should have a crisp, bold color scheme that attracts the eye but doesn't assault it.
