How do I create a blog type of website in a freely hosted domain?

Like blogger which hosts our blog freely there are many web hosts which host a sub domain freely for us. There may be limitations but for textual content and blogging, blog ads etc, it will definitely suffice for anyone. What I want to know is how to make a blog template for such domain from scratch? I know html, javascript. Is that enough or do i need any software and need to learn any scripting?

There are many open source blog script available which you can use. The most popular of which is Wordpress. This is easy to install. To create your own template, it is important that you know some basic programming aside from HTML and CSS .

BlogSpot, LiveJournal, etc. They're all free and easy to set up. Just follow the directions. WordPress is the best, IMHO.
