I don't know about the rumor, but I'm not a big fan of frontpage, it never make a clean code, even with the simple pages, I like dreamweaver more.

Dreamweaver is where its at.. Though I tend to code purely by hand in the code view section, it's menu system makes creating pages quick and easy. I've also come to rely on it's site system which lets me keep track of my site's much easier. It also nicely colors code in most of the major programming languages. My mother uses a program called web fusion.. it seems decent even if it ends up creating around 60kb pages each. I guess it all depends on what you have the time to learn.

I use Dreamweaver, Notepad and Paint Shop Pro primarily. Dreamweaver is excellent for rapid web development and built in code validation, FTP and site structuring is a real timesaver for me.

Notepad is useful for making minor changes where you don't want the crowded interface - I try and keep tabs to a minimum, but there are times I just don't need the colour coding or line numbering.

Paint Shop Pro is my weapon of choice for design. It's not as powerful as Photoshop, but it's significantly cheaper and does everything I need to do.

Dreamweaver and PhotoShop.

Up until recently I had used CoffeeCup and PaintShopPro but once I made the change over to the others I'm pretty sure I won't go back. At least with the graphics, the html editor is not so important to me as I mainly use it for the color coding of my code and the quick buttons and the like.

Notepad and photoshop. I find dreamweaver quite confusing so maybe I need to study more on it.

I don't know if the rumor you are talking about is true, but I love Frontpage for sure, even if you have to edit your code sometimes, since it can add a few extra codes. I also use Photoshop for webdesign.

Just recently, I have been using Notepad, and FireBug plugin for FireFox to do my web design.

FireBug allows me to change CSS style settings on the fly, allowing me to easily try different things. It has become an invaluable tool.

I use Firebug to inspect what CSS rules apply to an element, and the Web Developer extension to edit it.
