I think its really clever running these design contests. Instead of just paying a couple hundred dollers to one designer to make you a website where you only get one design to choose from you get many designs to choose from for the same price.

The contest that precharge ran for this forums design they ended up getting like 20+ entrys, To get 20 differnt designs to choose from specialy made to your requests would cost you ALOT of money normally..

yep, it's a great way to get a great design for your website. But only if i've got lotsa cash on hand. Competition brings out the best in most people ;)

But if i've already got an designer whose work I admire, I would go straight to him/her and probably be able to save a couple of bucks.
