windows mobile vs symbian

i have heard from some of my friends that windows mobile is more popular than symbian . But how come then windows mobile does not sell in the quantity of symbian?

first windows mobile is expensive, symbian doesn't, windows mobile applications have added functionality than symbian, most large manufacturer of mobile phone like nokia uses symbian on their phone that is why.
