Default winamp vs windows media player

which is best ? i use both, for me it seems winamp is a bit lighter than wmp, so i use it when hearing music, but sadly winamp is not that all that much when talking about movies, so i normally use either wmp or VLC.

There are many more media players out there.
I use Winamp for the most part, Roxio Cineplayer for movies, VLC for things that Winamp doesn't support, and occasionally Creative Mediasource for the great equalizers - it takes full advantage of my sound card so the music sounds great.

it is true that windows media player is better for movies but it still lacks much and uses too much of the pc’s resources. that is why winamp is better. i ofcourse use another program for movies, VLC.

optionwise windows media player is better, even if it slows the pc a bit, it is still kind of better than winamp and spares the trouble of having to get many players. i ofcourse also have vlc because it can view what others cannot, but i dont use winamp.

Winamp can also be annoying when you can't burn or rip CDs at full speed without the full version, I forgot about that too.
I don't use it for that anyway, just thought I'd mention it.

true, but it is also true that i dont use winamp for burning music anyway, i always use proper burning software like nero burning room or alcohol depending on what im planning to burn. i also stopped using windows media player and winamp. i just use vlc for music and movies though it might look odd to use it for music, it still works fine

i use others which are better, but if i had to choose between these 2 then probably winamp, i dont like the way windows media player operates nor the stupid new system with going to the site of the provider to get tickets.

well that ticket system is indeed annoying, but companies would have used other methods to prevent others from seeing their movies without permission anyway.

well i think the only reason that system was made is because it is microsoft who makes wmp. free movie players wouldn't invent stuff.

I use WMP for playing my individual tracks, Winamp for creating playlists and when I play music over longer periods of time and Jetaudio to play short playlists.
