While I was in the Boise airport the other day I overheard a couple business looking folks discussing the fact that wifi technology would be hitting several major US carriers in the very near future. I haven't been able to find anything on this other than some older articles from back in 2004-05, but I wouldn't rule it out.
It makes since to me as the next step forward in attracting people to air travel. As I understand it, several European carriers have already given this a whirl. The speeds are not anything to write home about, but I read somewhere that one guy was able to take VOIP phone calls from his laptop at 30,000 feet. If Southwest, United, or some of the other big dogs unleashed wifi on domestic flights I bet we would see a HUGE turf war unfold. Anyone have any experience with this? Thoughts? |

But aren't they making people check their laptops now? I think we're a ways off with terrorism but think it would be a great way to kill time on a long flight. Think of the post count you could hit on a flight from NY to London, lol.

Isn't this dangerous? Because as I know interference during travel is not good. I dont want to risk my life out of this improvement in carrier, lol.

it should, otherwise if we are just assuming this kind of implementation, who else will go for travel using plane if you know this fact?
