I have been trying to decide whether SLI is really that worth it or not. I'm looking to buy a new graphics card along the GeForce7000 range and I'm not sure whether I should spring the the best one there is, or just hook up two moderately good graphics cards with SLI.
I've also wondered if there really is a drastic increase in speed when SLI is used.

What do you think?

IMHO (educated I might add), SLI and/or Crossfire isn't worth it. Not many games even support it, despite what they would like you to think. You do get a performance boost from games that do take advantage of it though. Keep in mind that with SLI or Crossfire, you may end up with bottlenecks from your memory, hdd or cpu anyway. So if those aren't up to snuff, not worth the effort. My advice, if you're wanting to spend that money, get a 7950GTX (I think that's what it's called). It's dual gpu and it cranks out enough horse power to compete with dual 7900GT's running in SLI AND it's still just one video card (with dual GPU's mind you), so no SLI incompatibility issues. My preferred nVidia based card manufacturers are eVGA and XFX btw, I wont use anyone else. I hear BFG is good, but you're basically paying them for the warranty on an overclocked card where as if you overclock on a card other than one that has been factory OC'd, you void your warranty.

Are these cards for computers? I don't do much gaming on the computer, so I haven't upgraded my video cards. However, a lot people always ask me questions about these, and I never know about it.
