Default Newbie question about server requests

Hello

I'm a really newbie of web server and what is all about settings etc. What I am about to do is an application so I can monitor some settings online on the web. For that I have created a little standalone application running on a different server that gets all info about current settings. Why I want to have two different servers is because I don’t want to "kill" my web server with to much traffic. Now to my question lets say a visitor first enter page A on web server A can I then redirect current user (after getting information about the user) and the redirect him/her to another server with given parameters to another page on another web server (other ip addres)?

1) Visitor enters page A on web server A
2) Web server A gets information about the user, and redirects to another server (web server B that is using my stand alone application) with given parameters about the user.
3) Then the user will poll information from web server B.

I hope you understand what I want to achieve.
thanks
kevin
