I average about 50 unique hits per day on my template site. Im fairly happy with it as the site is only few weeks old and I have not spent any money yet advertising the site. I have also had over 300 downloads of the templates in the last 3weeks.

Well I use both, but for different reasons.

I use statcounter to track and have set it so that it tracks unique visits at 48hours!

Unique visits help me know my new visitors and the page loads let me know how much of my site they are actually browsing.

Analyzing the data generated by webalizer and awstats in the server clearly states on where the traffic coming from, most is from my PC and that robots crawling on my site,

On average, what is a good ratio between unique visits and hits? If it's too much of a difference, that means you have few vistors for a long time. If it's too little, that means your traffic isn't staing on your site, and is perhaps 'fake' traffic (like autosurf traffic).
