My advise is to not use an extra plugin, but just put the code in .htaccess

The lesser that PHP does the better

becuase this can lead to duplicate contest. so http://www.yourdomain.com/index.html will have same content but different url with http://yourdomain.com/index.html

You won't get penalized for duplicate content, but you will have your pagerank split across two different pages. Which means you won't be as high in the SERPs.

I've taken the www out of my address as well. On two of my site's anyway, one the other I force w's to appear.

No page ranking is both for www and without www and it works good without any penalize from google.I`ve pr5 for both www and without www.
