the short answer: yes
long answer: First of all, you need to check if the websites are on the same server, if they are not, you need to make it so that each of the servers can access the mysql server from anything other than Localhost. check with your administrator for TCP/IP access to your mysql database.

Sure, why not...? As long as you make sure that all the websites have the same server and there is no any further corruption or crushing between the sites, then you're ready to go with it!

Same content on multiple websites are a no no.
