Google is making a huge investment in developing the Ajax approach. All of the major products Google has introduced over the last year — Orkut, Gmail, the latest beta version of Google Groups, Google Suggest, and Google Maps — are Ajax applications. Others are following suit: many of the features that people love in Flickr depend on Ajax, and Amazon’s A9.com search engine applies similar techniques.

Another great implementation of AJAX: would be digg.com/spy. You can see diggs users are making, in real time! No pages refresh/nothing. Its amazing

Ajax is the hot new technology used by all. But is it really needed?

I know if I had to use Ajax all over my blog that made users spend a lifetime downloading the whole site, I won't have anyone visiting.

However, Ajax does help in small things like comment previews or submitting comments etc.

For running a mail service like Google, Yahoo or MSN, this helps, because it makes using it a lot easier and faster.
