Having never touched Perl, so I would have to say I prefer Php.

One thing at a time. However, in the coming months I will be touching on things like AJAX and Ruby on Rails. Perhaps I will throw a little Perl in there for good measure.

PHP. I found Perl a bit too hard to code in. PHP has been easy to understand and use.

My vote goes to PHP. It is much easier to learn. References for learning are overflowing. Various PHP online communities are available which can be tapped for assistance.

I'll go with PHP as well. I haven't really coded anything from scratch, but I have made revisions to php files. Pearl seems confusing to me, and most scripts out there use PHP, so it's beneficial to know it. I have used some Pearl scripts though, but I didn't find them that good.

I don't have the luxury of time to code. I need solutions outright so the choice for me is PHP. Although, there is still an element of hard coding involved, PHP makes a much quicker if not a better tool than Perl.

In regard to web development, we have yet to find a single thing that Perl can't do, whereas we have found limitations in PHP. We feel that the added power of Perl makes it the better choice. We have not found the efficiency issue to be much of an issue at all - in most cases it's only academic and won't actually affect the performance of your website.

php was my first real web programming language, so I have a soft spot for it and still havn't tried perl. Is there stuff you can't do in php that you can in Perl? I havn't come accross anything that wasn't possible in php yet.
