Default Can you access a database on a different server on your website?

Can you access a database on a different server on your website? What I mean is, could you use the information located on a database in someone else's server for your website if you had a password and login information? How?

yes. definitely. you would also need the server name, db name, user and password. how? it depends. are you using php, .net, or something else? either way, you have to create your connection object first, setup the connetion info (login, server name, db name, etc) then setup your record set/data set.

in addition to that the external server should allow incoming connections from non-localhost

which means that the username and password you're using to access the external server should have the right permissions set up.

yes if you have database information such as Database servername, database name, database username, and database password you can easily connect to remote database, many hosting websites are using remote database servers..
