I have a few websites, and have found it hard to build links.
There aren't any on-topic websites which relate to my website very much...therefore I've had to do a basic link exchange which has created some links but not enough. My other options are to start blogs and put links on them or start free-space type web pages and put links there.....forums also an option although more difficult to build links due to anti-spam issues thanks kevin |

Have you submitted to any directories? You can also write articles for sites excepting articles that include a link to that person's website. I have also at times gained links for sites by offering a service in exchange for a link.

Yes, Kconnections!
Kevin, Promotion is a bit of work but does pays off. Free articles and blogs that get indexed can bring you a lot of relevant traffic. Using reciprocal linking can help especially if you get involved with linkers who have similar topics to you. Reviewing one another's sites in your blogs with appropriate tagging (I like Technorati and de.lic.ious) and pinging can help too. Can you share your subject matter so people might be able to give you further advice?

Writing articles, in forums, and commenting blogs can spread links around. You can use resource boxes and signatures. Blog comments usually give you the option of linking to your website.

Another way to get high Page Ranking links is by purchasing links from other websites. There are many webmasters that do this in the beginning so as to improve their PR and after you have a higher PR other sites will find it more interesting to do a link exchange with you.

The best thing I can think of to do is to scour the internet for a site in your niche that is newer than yours, or otherwise not as good. Get the link and be happy about it.
