"Really good money", no... heh. But enough to cover the cost of the website and more? Yes :). You can make some extra spending money each month, but you will most likely not be able to live off the revenue from ads. Unless of course you sold MySpace to Fox for half a billion dollars

The money someone will make with ads will depend on the number of vistors more than anything. A higher CTR will increase the amount of money per visitor, but CTR only vary from about 1% to 5% and usually hang around 2.5% - on a content driven site (not forums). Even a great CTR won't make money if you're only getting a few visitors.

Yes many people earn a living from it. The more traffic you get the more you are likely to earn. Some sites can earn $1,000+ per day from this if you have over 1,000,000 pageviews a day. Although saying this, over 1,000,000 pageviews a day is not easy to get at all, so earning these volumns of money is not easy.
