Product referrals

Product referrals like the Firefox/Picasa that adsense offers. do they make any money at all? Is it worth the adspace to put up the buttons?

I know they give you the links to promote it but i've not seen a dime from it in a month so I don't know if people just don't use it or of Google really doesn't pay for it.

Yea im pretty sure its ineffective.
