If its viewed by the right viewer, then.. Very, like when i was looking for a blogging site and saw soulcast.com banner right here at preCharge i went for it.. even thou its not as good as all those other blogging sites out there

It all depends on the site, location of the page, site stats, and site target.

For example: I wouldn't use banner advertising to market a site that only generates income from Adsense. Chances are, unless you are running a site with high paying keywords, the banner ad will cost more than you can make from the incoming traffic. However, if you're selling a product and have a low enough price to make people think twice, banner ads that are strategically placed can be highly effective.

One thing you have to be careful of, and this is why I refuse to pay by impression, is people who only wish to scam you. They can trick you into thinking they have a lot of traffic by paying someone like this for fake traffic. This registers on the banner stats as if it were authentic traffic and you have no way of knowing it isn't. This kind of traffic isn't going to click on your ads, and if they've figured out a way to get this hits through your ads, they certainly aren't going to translate into sales.

I'll buy banner space if it is on a monthly rate, not CRM. And even then the site has to be unique, and it has to be proven that the site is receiving organic traffic through the SE's.

well until u click on banner you have no idea what's in wesbite. Website might be the worse ever, but if the banner is really well designed you'll be curious and enter. It might happen next time you see the banner you wont get it, bu, because of the good banner, you got in website at least once.

If you're saying banner design itself is important, I totally agree. This little guy has made me a some pretty good money in the past.



It isn't really a good design, but it conveys the message and if I buy ad space on the right websites it really brings in the business.

well for me, the design is really good =) and indeed it does tell everything of what the website is about.
