Mail attachment Problem

Hi all
I making a site in which i want to send mail with a pdf file attachment.
The problem is that When i send a attachment of small size then it sends correctly But if i send attachment of approx 400-500 kb the a ph.exe error occurs like can refernce memory at 00x000065 etc.
Does some one can help me on this?

Does PHP timeout?

I've never had problems sending attachments of that size. That's less than half a MB.
