Default MSN's alliance with Yahoo

If they can interconnect their instant messenger together, can they not do that with Skype?

If installing your IM client is a hassle because you have to install for instance AOL client based application on your PC so that you can interact with another AOL holder, the solution could not be necessarily the interconnection. You can try a server based application like Meebo .

I think one reason why IM users crave for interconnection is the hassle of installing client applications. For instance you have to install your YM to talk to another YM account holder. But that can be partially addressed by site Meebo . You don't need to install anything on your PC.

If you need to run an instant messendger like YM, MSN, Skype and the rest, you need to install their respective client applications on your PC. In other words, in order to connect to a Skype user, you must have your Skype client software running on your PC. For Meebo, it provides the server based application so that you don't have to install these client applications.

Moreover meebo is a web messenger so there's no need to install ANY IM client.
All you have to do is visit meebo.com and log on from there.
Skype is a completely different concept from IM as it concentrates more on voice chat and is dedicated to Voice Chat/P2P calling.

Skype introduced a whole new idea into IM programs. It's main focus is on calling, but some focus on internet chat.

As far as I know, Skype is not affiliated with any company and it seems as though it is going to stay that way.

on top of that, Skype is coded in a totally new way, making it very hard for such an idea to come into a reality.
