Default MSN gets even closer to Yahoo

As seen in the Yahoo section, there is a lot of talk of the possibility of MSN buying Yahoo. While many have taken the "they would never" attitude, one must be curious as to why MSN has announced that MSN messenger now works hand in hand with Yahoo messenger.

Quote:
Microsoft has announced that it has completed work to combine its MSN Messenger instant messaging network with Yahoo! Messenger. From today any of the services' combined 350 million users can now communicate to those on the other network. The combined network is now the world's biggest.

Interoperability between the rival IM suppliers has been an issue for many years leading to a deal of frustration in the user community that the major players have been unable to agree. a recent Yahoo! survey showed that almost a third of IM users would like to communicate with friends and family on other IM networks, and that interoperable services would encourage them on to make contact more often.
With any other company I wouldn't be worried, but MSN hardly EVER makes its own stuff work with that of a competitor, so is this another sign that MSN and Yahoo may soon be joining forces?

I wouldn't worry about that. If the sale does take place I'm guessing MSN will team the two up against Google.

Yeah but Yahoo isn't greedy. Their website also works with Firefox. ;)

So does Windows Live

Windows Live Mail did have a problem at one time with Firefox, but then it was sorted out.

Have you ever tried downloading upgrades or templates from Microsoft.com using Firefox? Not happening.

You can't use any, well most of Microsofts own website while on Firefox. To get security updates or download Excell and Access templates they force you to use IE. They refuse to let you use Firefox.

The reason is because Firefox doesn't support ActiveX

Check Mozilla ActiveX Plug-in
