Does anyone here use social bookmarking to market their sites?

I use Digg and StumbleUpon and it's done amazing things for my traffic.

What exactly is the difference between Digg and StumbleUpon? In my case I have been helping some friends build their site traffic by leaving comments on their sites thru Digg. How effective Digg is in generating traffic remains to be seen.

StumbleUpon works through a toolbar. There's more exposure for the ones who's articles aren't popular to be featured.

Not only digg and stumbleupon, i found many such social bookmarking sites have brought considerable amount of traffic to my sites. They are the next source of getting traffic to any websites or blogs next only to search engines.

Yes but Digg and StumbleUpon are the top dogs, like Google and Yahoo!.
Reddit, Furl, del.icio.us, etc. are all good, too though.

Although a great way to get an influx of traffic, neither of these seem to convert well. Once the Digg or Stumble is done, I find numbers revert back to where they were previously.

Also, there are very few ad clickers in the bunch. I had a buddy who got over 30,000 uniques in 24hrs, and his total ad revenue was $1.75. (I made almost $3.00 that same day with about 40 uniques)

Still, It's nice to see those hit numbers fly when you get Digg'ed (Dugg??) or stumbled...

Stumbleupon is the most effective one I used but like Starlab mentioned the traffic seems to die down after a few days. It's only temporary traffic if you ask me.
