Bad Link.

Shouldn't the links be somewhat relevant to each other or doesnt that really matter?

Well links should always be relavent, its not a case of increasing traffic but a case of getting relavant visitors. For example if i ran a vegitarian site it would be pointless doing a link exchange with a butchers as neither site would benifit.

And also people participating in link exchanges should also be intrested in the quality of the site the are linking with as that can affect rankings in search engines.
