Deals like Servage are great for websites (I use them myself) , however, depending on how big your forum is, it might be better to got with a VPS / VDS or even a dedicated server. I read an article somewhere , where it said that if you have a forum with more than 1000 users, you should switch to dedi box.

Yes, Servage is shared and shared hosting providers lie their head off all the time. A VPS or a dedicated server should be good, if you're making enough. If you're not, concentrate on monetizing those users.

For a starting forum, a virtual host would be good enough. Your forum only becomes bandwidth intensive if you allow users to upload heavy loading images (avatar, signature) using your existing webhost as host.
