To some hosting servies it monthly payment, while of other its pre-paid yearly servies, and some are free

id rather pay annually since it tends to be cheaper...the downside of it is that, if your host decides to screw up in the middle of your contract, you get screwed over too.

Yes, I pay annually, but I use Lunarpages and they are pretty reputable.
I wouldn't pay annually with a small company, or with Dreamhost. DreamHost is terrible.

Currently I pay annually, but that's simply because I'm on shared hosting (DreamHost), which is just so cheap annually. However, if I owned a dedi / vps, I'd probably have to pay monthly.
