In this tutorial, I will teach you how to make a nice abstract graphic.
It has many steps!
It starts out as the regular blending tutorial at first, then gets more difficult.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) Start off by making or opening a background you wish to use. I'll be using a 400x400 px background:

2) Go to a web site to find a picture. I will use this:

If you wish to, resize the picture and then follow the next step.

3) Now right-click your picture and select copy. On Photoshop, go to Edit --> Paste. You should now see this:

4) Now right-click your 'Lasso Tool' and select 'Polygonal Lasso Tool' and set feather to 10 px.

5) Click around your picture and form a polygonal shape until you go all around it and get back to where you started. You should see a dotted line around your picture. Now do this: Shift+Ctrl+I and press delete on your keyboard. And then, go to Select in Photoshop and click 'Deselect'. You should see this now:

6) Now, set the Opacity to about 70% and either keep the mode on Normal or set it to Hard Light. (I suggest Normal because it gets to blended with hard light). You should now see something like this:

7) Click Layer and click Duplicate Layer. Call it whatever you want. Click it and drag it over your picture layer. Then set the Blend Mode to Overlay and lower the opacity to about 70%.

8) Go to Image --> Mode --> Grayscale and click Don't Flatten:

9) Add some text and this is what you do:
  • Right-Click your Background Copy
  • Select Blending Options
  • Put a check next to Inner Shadow
  • Set the Blend Mode to Multiply
  • Set the Opacity to 75%
If you want, lower your text opacity.

10) Go to Image --> Mode --> RGB Color. (Note: This hardly does anything.)

Now, you are done unless you'd like colors:

*********************************Optional********* ****************************

11) Go to Layer --> New Adjustment Layer --> Hue/Saturation. Check the box that says Colorize and mess around until you have something you like.

Also, you can add this too: Layer --> New Adjustment Layer --> Color Balance.

You should have something like this now:

Yours will probably be better, there was a lot of dark parts in mine. ;)
