Special thanks has to go out to both Sophie and Murcury with this tutorial, coz without them, i wouldnt have known anything... plus this tutorial is pretty much Murc's anyway... just adapted slightly for my own route to achieving the same result. And obviously, as u may tell... his results look better than mine lol... Find Sophie here? and find Murcury here


BASIC GRUNGEY SIG


1. open new document: 400x100 pixels, 72 resolution, RGB colour, Transparent.
2. Press D
3. Filter>Render>Clouds
4. Ctrl, Shift, N (Create new layer)
5. Select Brush tool. use 3-4 different brushes. click each one once, at various points on sig.
6. Ctrl, Shift, N (Create new layer)
7. Press X.
8. Select Brush tool. use 2-3 different brushes. click each one once, at various points on sig.


INSERT RENDER

1. Open up picture of your choice.
2. Image>Image size. Change height to between 100/150 pixels.
3. Select Rectangular Marquee Tool. Set Feather to between 30-60 pixels.
4. Click and drag over portion of picture you want on sig. (Due to the feather, it will make a kind of circle, like below)

5. Press Ctrl, C.
6. Choose Move Tool. Hold down Ctrl, click and drag selection of picture to sig.
7. Change from Normal to Luminoscity in drop box above layers.


COMPLETION OF SIG

9. Ctrl, Shift, N (Create new layer)
10. Use brushes to BLEND picture into background and get rid of unsightly lines.
11. Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Colour Balance.
12. Change the settings to your taste. Be sure to change Midtones, Highlights and Shadow.

13. Ctrl, Shift, N (Create new layer)
14. Select Rectangular Marquee Tool. Change Feather to 0 pixels.
15. Click and drag across the whole of your sig.
16. Right click within selected area and choose 'Stroke'. Change to 3px black.
17. Right click within selected area and choose 'Stroke'. Change to 2px colour of BG.
18. Right click within selected area and choose 'Stroke'. Change to 1px black.
19. Insert your Text.

20. Right click on text layer>Blending Options. To change the properties of each, click on the writing, not just the check box.

This is what my finished article ended up like.
