I don't know about Google's big push over the last year to become more than just a search engine! They have spent big bucks trying to develop new software as well as aquire companies to gwet instant software like Google Earth, Google Analytics, Google Spreadsheet and so much more.

While I do like some of the programs they are putting out I can't imagine any of this to ever be profitable for them and I worry that this focus will hurt them in the long run!

Google is actually playing the monopoly game. Sources say that in 2006 around 80 percent of websites get their sites searched at google.com. 10 percent at yahoo. and others are like measly 1%-5%. So you don't have to worry about google not profiting. lol

I think most of this new stuff is not to make the end user happy but more to keep the stock holders happy that they are trying new things.

I have to admit I do like a lot of the things Google has been releasing lately... Analytics, Froogle, and Web Master tools.
