I found a good spot for textlinks in my forum, looks like in the picture below:
The code is like this(themes/default/index.template.php: Code:
</head> <body>'; echo ' <div class="tborder" ', $context['browser']['needs_size_fix'] && !$context['browser']['is_ie6'] ? ' style="width: 100%;"' : '', '> <table width="100%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0"> <tr> <td height="24" bgcolor="#4C4C4C"> <div align="left"> <script type="text/javascript"><!-- google_ad_client = "pub-XXXXXXXXXX"; google_ad_width = 728; google_ad_height = 15; google_ad_format = "728x15_0ads_al"; google_ad_channel ="8005950260"; google_color_border = "4C4C4C"; google_color_bg = "4C4C4C"; google_color_link = "FFFF66"; google_color_text = "CC0000"; google_color_url = "000000"; //--></script> <script type="text/javascript" Â* src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com.../show_ads.js"> </script></div> </tr> </table>'; // display user name echo ' Any other good spots? I should appreciate some good tips, and i don't want to have large ads if they irritate my members. Some smart placing of large square ads would be nice though. (That does not irritate) See it live here: http://www.varmepumpsforum.com/vpforum/index.php

I have GoogleAds on my forum, i've added graphics at either end of the ad block (links to WeatherUnderground) which draws attention toward them. You aren't allowed to explicitly point people at your ads, so this is a good way of doing it.
I typically get 2,000+ ad impressions per day, with daily earnings in the $1-$5 bracket, so not bad, but not life changing. The North East Forum http://www.neforum2.co.uk/smf |

HEllo, i installed the ad management mod, and did several tests on my SMF install (100.000 posts, 1500 members, around 150.000 monthly page views).
Best spots i found are : a second-post adbot in ONE board (the forsale section).This doesnt bother the users, as it being in the for sale section justifies its presence (people sells and earns, so site earns a bit too). Also it has a very good CTR (2,20% average). |
