Honestly I received a DS immediately after its release in nov. 2004. And I just love it. I play with it pretty much every day at least an hour. Couple of weeks ago we decided to buy this new light version for my wife.

We went to the store and played with it for a while and it is horrible! It looks/feels like a toy. I didn't like it but I told my wife is she likes it then we'll get one. She said no way, so we'll try to get an older DS.

I find the DS lite to be 100000 times better in brightness, weight, and overall portability. It is simply better for those that want to go places. The regular one made my pockets bulge out while it was in there. The new one doesnt. I can actually SEE so much more details and such with the new brightness! It is amazing.

Also, it is lite, not light.

I've lost my DS. :( I think I'm going to skip the DS lite and save up for the Wii... or possibly even the PS3 ($600? ouch).

I saw some of the new PS3 games... awesome, but I'd never pay that much for a simple game console. I know that you watch/burn DVD... etc (even make coffee) but do you really need these things in a game-box? i don't think so....

I still don't get teh dual screens on the DS. Is there any real benfit? Do the games actually use it in the best possible way. The DS has a lot of cool features I just do not think will be used often.

If you have a hard time carrying the regular DS around or have a hard time seeing it then yes. Otherwise why fix what isnt broken.
