Tonight I was watching the classic movie Bladerunner. It has been a while since I saw this one, but it still is a great movie. In one particular scene you see a bird-cam capturing a nice view of some buildings. On one of these huge, glass Sci-fi scrappers a giant shinny Atari logo can be seen. Now, Bladeruner was recorded back in 1982 or so and the year the story is set in, will be 2029. So, back then Atari was a big player on the computer market and they surely paid some good dollars to make this advertisement. Fun thing is, in the year 2007 Atari isn’t that much of a notorious contestant anymore. That made me wonder: Nowadays, Microsoft is the big player on the scene for sure.
But everything that goes up must come down. (eventually) So, will we ever see a movie in 2035 with a Microsoft logo in it that will make us go: wow, now that’s ancient history!? Or does Microsoft implement the software on our tombstone, some day? What do you think? |
