Default Nintendo DS Lite: My First Impression

Quote:
OK, I get in the car with my brand new DS Lite box and open the box (Debbie is driving) and my first thought was "I hope my hands are clean". It sure is white......

I power it up and go through the motions of setting up language, name, ect.......and now for the good stuff, put in a DS Game and see if there is any difference.....bu lo and behold, I left my freakin' games at home and I am at least 3 hours before I'll get home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRR RRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!

So I patiently wait (sorta) and we finally get home, get the stuff put away and grab my copy of New Super Mario Bros.

I put in the game, turn it on and select the DS cartridge............

AND I AM AMAZED.....I have the screen brightness on the third level (full) and the colors just POPPED....I could see detail in the backgrounds that I didn't see before.........

The new Stylus feels so much better in my hands also......

And I don't have to worry anymore about hitting the power button while playing (THANK YOU NINTENDO FOR MOVING IT)

All In all.....I think the DS Lite was a good move for Nintendo......If you have a regular DS and are thinking about upgrading, I say "Do it"

Hmm, I've never hit the power button before >_>;;

I don't think I'll be upgrading to the Lite, my DS is working fine as is. Besides, I've been used to low lighting for too long (GBA ;_; ), a sudden change like that might make my brain explode.

hah The power button was dreadful.

I love it so much more than my old DS. All of those features you mentioned are excellent. I especially love the larger stylus. It fits in my hands better. The DS overall is much more portable and very visable with the new lighting!

I wrote this somewhere here already but I have to mention it again.

I got my NDS back in 2004 december (yes, I was one of the luckiests ;) ) anyway, I just love it. So my wife (seeing me all happy and stuff) decided to get one for herself, too. You cannot get the regular DS anymore so we wanted to check this new, lite DS. We shouldn't have. It feels/looks like a plastic kid-toy... literally ...

i don't know how to explain. the DS is like... ohh, I have a DS, so cool... etc... but this lite is just ... nothing.. so we didn't like it and didn't buy it :( now I wanna get this new Nintendo Wii :)

I like the brightness of the screen on the lite. However, a white console scares me, because I don't want to get it dirty. I'd prefer black, like my laptop.
