Default Become admin on a phpbb forum on HTML website

Hi

I've started a new website yesterday and I've just installed the forum today but I can't login as admin, I've tried all the logins I have on my website. I've made a new user now but I can't find where to give the user admin rights.
Please help.

Thanks, Amanda

Hi Amanda

I am not a fan of phpBB so my experience with it is limited. I have used and installed many other boards though :)

Was the bulletin board a fresh install? Did you install manually or via Fantastico? Normally during an install you are asked to provide the admin name and password (often along with an email address so you can be emailed them in case you forget). Do you recall doing this?

If you cannot request the username and password to be sent to you then the only thing you can do is a fresh install. As this board was only installed yesterday you shouldn't be losing any large amounts of data. If anybody has posted on the board then I suggest taking a note of the details ready to re-input later.

If your database skills are up to it, save a copy, get any existing members to re-register on fresh install and then move their post contents to the new database.

Hope this helps

Reinstalling worked, thanks a lot.
It was a fresh install btw but I guess that I made a mistake somewhere.

Hello, (and welcome)

on the other hand I never used anything else but phpBB (because of financial reasons) but I never had any problems with it that I couldn't resolve by myself. (or once with their tech support!) phpBB is a good program if you know what you are doing ;)

You could of just changed the passoword in the database. SMF (simple Machines Forums) Is what I use. It is also free and fairly easy to customize.

You can just change the information in the database. Additionally, if you do a fresh-install and save the database, you don't need the users to re-register, because you can also import the user database.
