When you first create a forum you may want to adjust the forum ranks according to the forum. If you have a resource board, the common thing to do is create user groups such as:
Community Team Support Team Graphics Team Skin Team Review Team Or for the more general boards you may consider: [b]Administrator Global Moderator Moderator And anymore you see a need for in your board. 1]The first step is to open up the ACP and go to the Permission Masks Menu. 2]Then you need to create a new permission mask, select "Create New Permission mask" 3]Then type in "Super Moderator Mask" at the title. 4]When creating it select the option next to "...Inherit from..." click Members Mask 5] Then click "edit" the Super Moderator Mask Now find the extra forum(s) you wish for users in this group to access and post in. Place a check in Read, Reply, Start, and/or Upload to allow them to access and post in them. Edit this accordingly to how you want things done and what you want this group to acsess... 6] Now please Update Forum Permissions ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 7] Now click Manage User Groups in the ACP menu. 8]Create a new group and set the "base new group..." to Members. and Set Up New Group. 9]Now type in the group title, usually i like to have a group, and a group manager for that group, so Support Manager, Community Manager... etc. Select one of those, and type the name you want in the name selection box. 10]Look for the "Use Forum Permission Access..." and set it to the newly created Super Moderator Mask. 11]Find the moderator permissions ans select "Is super moderator", check the yes box 12] Find the "Post in closed topics" option and select yes, so they can, post in closed topics... 13] Set the other settings how you wish if you understand them. PM me if you dont understand one and i will see what i can do. 14] Click Add Group ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 15] Now we need to add colors and other tags. So click edit user group. And edit the "Online List Format [Prefix]" Code:
<span style='color:red'> Admin Code:
<span style='color:red; font-weight:bold'> Admin Code:
<span style='color:red; font-style: italic'> Admin Code:
<span style='color:red; text-decoration:underline'> Admin And so on. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Glowing usernames: To add a glowing effect to the user group you go to manage user groups and select the group you would like to glow. In the Online List Format [Suffix] include a: Code:
</span> tag, then in the Online List Format [Prefix] include the following code, editing it how you prefer your colors and such... Quote:
the red part is the color of the actual text inside the glowing area. For bold it would be: Quote:
the red part is the color of the actual text inside the glowing area. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 16] Now we need to add users to the User Group you created earlier, lets say you made a Community Manager group. 17] In the ACP side menu, select Find/Edit User. and click it. 18]Find the member you wish to promote. 19]Next to the member click Edit Deatails 20]Next to "User Group" select the user group you want, for example Community Manager 21] And click Edit This Member Ok, now we need to create the Team, support community, skin, review... etc. Follow the instructions stated before, but insert the word Moderator for all Super Moderator names. Quote:
Set up a new user group title Community Team for example. and set permission mask to Moderator Mask 23]Under the ACP menu go to Fourum Control > Moderators 24]Check the fourums you want the Community Team to moderate, and in the option "Type of moderator to add" select the "Member Group" option, click Add a moderator to the selected fourums 25]"Select aGroup" : Find the Community Team and click add this group. Congradulations, you are done, you have made Global Mods, set up two permision masks, and set up one group as Moderator of the selected boards. Keep up the good work. And continue until content with these settings.
