Default PayPal

I know that they are rather expensive as payment processors go but I still have to say that they are by far the best overall payment processor for small to mid sized online businesses. I have been using them for two years and yes I have had a few issues along the way but for the most part am happy... their market penetration is by far the best and it seems like everyone trusts and uses PayPal, at least in the USA.

What is your payment processing company?

PayPal is not expensive at all, in fact for those who don't have the means or volume to support an actual payment processor, paypal is a great option. Mind you, many don't like their almost monopolistic approach to doing business but I guess that's the price you pay.

I notice a lot of bigger merchants like Buy.com and iTunes are now accepting PayPal as a payment method. Paypal used to be just for Ebay and small businesses but they seem to be going main stream now. I wonder if these larger merchants get better rates?

I use Pay Pal as well. I mean having your own merchant account is way better, but it's more expensive. Pay Pal is enough for the average small business. And unless you're transactions are over $1,000 every time, the free Pay Pal account is enough. However, be sure to be verified, and if you're shipping out physical goods, make sure to have tracking on them, to avoid charge backs.

The problem with Paypal is that it can only service selected countries. Indeed Paypal features are even limited in some of these countries. Paypal favors developed countries for obvious reason.

paypal have fees, but they are bearable if the sum is big, for example from 5$, they will charge u 50 cents, but from 45$, the fees will be only 2$. so it's not that bad, after all, RL banks take much more :)

For those without Paypal accounts, one way to receive Paypal payment is thru XOOM. The funds can be picked up in your accredited local bank or the same funds can be transferred directly to your bank account.

True, the fees are proably better than a bank would give you and they are entitled to something, I just think they push the envelope too far...

paypal knows that they are the most trustworthy and popular organization for transfers and can allow themselves to have maybe comparably high fees to other programs like egold and xoom, but they also give a lot of features, security and merchant tools, which otherwise u cannot get.

Until now I still don't understand how Paypal fees work. I upgraded my personal account to premiere account. I get fees deduction for some transactions while I get zero fees for some. Does the account type have bearing on charged fees?
