I am using paypal for the last six months and so far what I have understood about their fee structure is that for every $10 they charge a flat 69 cents. But for lower amount of money received they charge a very weird amount which is higher percentage in comparison to the flat 69 cents for every $10.

In my case I received a net of $5.50 out of $6.0 sent to my account. That's strange. The news is Paypal is actively promoting its Paypal credit card only that this offer is limited to qualified Paypal members in the US.

I am very happy because I have free verified accounts and there are no fees on any transfer. I have transfer more than $1000 in last 8 months.

Ultimately paypal is going to be cheaper for smaller merchants, once you get past $2500 a month, should consider a regular merchant account.

Had a problem a while back (actually its ongoing).. I had people paying 1$ per month for links on my site.. I forgot that there would be a .66 charge for each one! So that isn't great I made like 3 bucks instead of 20 bucks.. oh well live and learn.

In my opinion PayPal is the number 1 worldwide. I never had problems with it, the fees are alright ( exception : really small amounts ) and it is very popular ( not only in the USA, over here in Europe, too ). At the moment there is no reason for me to change the provider.

I'm very happy with PayPal. It allowed me to purchase lots of stuff I can't ever imagine. It's reliable, working properly, good customer support, cheap for me, etc. The payment processor I have tried.
