Is e-gold a realtime payment processor like PayPal, or is there some delay in receiving money?

i couldn't really go into a deep discussion about e-gold...even though i opened mine 2 month ago, i hardly use it. once i have accumulated enough, that's when i'd start reading and asking questions on how to use the 'gold'. but my concern when i started was the first-time purchase minumum of $100 / $200 :( luckily, an admin at safelist.org offered to purchase e-gold for me and i paid him though paypal

well apparently, some online stores/auto surfing sites think it's worth it that's why they prefer it (sone don't even have paypal option). in fact, most prefer e-gold over paypal for a lot of reasons (which i can't remember)

You don't need any money to open an e-gold account. And, you can fund it in any amount you want. E-gold doesn't accept funding directly. You have to used a third-party exchanger to fund an e-gold account. Perhaps the $100 minimum is a policy of the specific exchanger you are using.

Your transaction from one egold account to another is in real time. Note that there is a corresponding fee of 1% I think if you transfer funds to another account. The deduction will be derived from the receiving party.

I've used e-gold, but I don't find it practically for normal business. It's only good for HYIPs, AutoSurfs, or casino games. You can cash it in for real cash though, but it's not as quick as Pay Pal. And the actual value is based on gold's value. You also have to use a 3rd party service to exchange to your currency.
