Default .com or .net which is better to own

As i have seen many big sites and blog have started to use .net as their tld rather than .com, is .net worth it to have and can be considered as a decent domain to hold? As it is cheaper also, is it worthwhile?

Com is for company and net is for network. What is your site like?
But anyways, .coms are more valuable and resellable than .nets.

Com is the most widely used and recognizable extension in the world of webmastering. It is much more valuable in the long shot against Net.

Many people are using .net now because the name they want on .com is already taken. .com is better to have in my opinion because most of the time people remember the site name but are not sure about the extension and the first thing they'll type in is .com.

Of course .com is the first choice unless the name already registered by someone, then go for .net or other extension.
I believe most people have the same feeling.

For me .com is the domain you should own and if it is not there for the name I am looking for, I would rather try to change the name of the site rather than looking for .net domain. Anyone who mentions a site they would mention it with .com only not .net. .com is the domain all else are not worth it, according to me.

.com is definitely the best one. Most people consider .com the first domain that comes in mind while thinking of a website.

but if a preferred .com is not available but .net is available u can go for it too.

for me order is .com > .net > .org > .us >.in >.info >.biz

I have a question. Are .edu's registerable? or do you have to buy them from the government.

Nope, looks like you have to be an actual institution and approved as such to get a .edu addy..
