Well I mean, it all depends on the situation, if somebody was selling Google.com , I'd be willing to spend a lil more than reg fee. However, I think that reg fee or tops 10 / 15 $ is a sound choice, unless it's a REAL premium domain, then I'll just let my wallet flow.

For a domain name with a good traffic, I can go beyond the normal rate. For a new domain name which could be as low as $1, I have to spend time for the site promotion. If my estimate would make it practical for me to buy an expired or an active domain name than register a new then I go for it.

I paid the maximum of $15 for a domain name and that's the maximum i could do and afford anything above that price is too much for me. I really wonder why some go the extra mile and buy some domains for very huge money!

The maximum i paid for a domain name is $100, which is a double letter .com domain and the seller told that it was a pageranked domain and hence brought that domain without content. I really regret it now buying it as the pagrerank has been stripped off from that site even after adding content.
