Check for promo codes from GoDaddy. If you can't find one, Yahoo offers $1.99 ($2.99 inclusive of service fee) domain name rate for the first year. Check also with web reputable hosts which offer web host packages with free domain name.

When I am looking to register a .net or .com domain then I often end up using Netfirms. They offer these domains at only 4.95 USD. That is one of the lowest prices I have seen around for domain registration. For .info domains I normally use Godaddy as they have the 99 cent special at the moment.
