Default XXX domain name

The news is that .XXX TLD is gaining some ground. If this will push thru, this will become the standard TLD for porn sites. That means, conservative countries wil have an easier time blocking porn sites. Proxy site owners are now wearing a big smile.

Last I heard about this, it got rejected. What would have to the .com's associated with porn though? Like playboy.com?

I'm guessing they would have some page saying that they change their address. I personally think that the .xxx extension would clean up the search results drastically. I'm often researching something and I keep getting pornographic URLs when the topic I'm searching is completely unrelated. Hopefully this will fix that. And also make surfing safer for kids.

well, there are already tons of porn sites on .com domains, i believe established sites with traffic.. they wont move to .xxx now, all of a sudden. it's a nice way to see adult domain before u enter, as many urls look "innocent" unless u r tricked to enter, but i see no big deal with this new extension...

yep, but then whats the point in new extension? u will have posrn sites out there in both com and xxx format, so it's just an addon, even if a parent would want to filter the .xxx domains for his kid's computer, it wont solve anything, right?

i believe .xxx official registration might require certian age minimum or will be priced higher though

The main idea behind .xxx is noteworthy. But with the widespread of proxy sites, still anyone can access .xxx sites. This TLD can definitely make searching porn sites much faster but not in a way the ultimate answer to online censorship.

I mdont think its going to change anything much though. What they should do is that if possible convert .com sites to .xxx formats, that way a parent wouls be able to filter his kids pc from .xxx sites and make surfing more safer. But the question is that is it really possible?

I don't think this is possible. It is going to be an open market. If there are those who are against the suggested transfer, they are the cybersquatters who see big bucks in the opeing up of .XXX TLD.
