If your domain has expired, is there a grace period for you as the original registar to reclaim your domain name? I'm talking here of actual case. I have an expired domain name but it is still being pointed to my site.

I once let a domain slip. It was 6 months later when it finally disappeared.
But that was about 6 years ago. I think registrars are a little more on top of things these days.

There's usually a sixty day grace period once your domain expires. During this time you will often have to pay an extra fee in order to get the domain name back, and can't just renew it through the normal channels. In addition, some registrars will stop pointing the domain to your IP address, and switch it over to their own PPC pages.

Actually I got this domain name from Yahoo. I got it $1.99 plus service fee a year ago. Much I would like to renew the domain name, I am having a problem paying via credit card. The renewal rate is now $9.95 .

I wonder if it is possible to request the transfer of your expired domain name. Let's say from Yahoo to another domain name registrar like Registerfly which offers a reasonable domain transfer rate inclusive of one year renewal.
