That's the thing you realize Search Engine Optimization is universal anything and everything can affect. Especially the news. Say the president gets impeached. If you are a SEO consultant you will use this to your advantage by quickly writing an article about it using major keywords. If it's first in the SERPs your article will become an authority on that subject. Perhaps you may choose to make it into a website. They you have free links pouring in and you can use that page once it gets the Page Ranking weight to advance your SEO projects.

I'd go with a domain targeting an Search Engine Optimization niche, you could do seoforblogs.com (site checking domains failed on this one) or seoforforums.com

By going niche you can target a more specific audience, and hopefully get more readers.
