What's best besides .com?

What's the second best domain type? Obviously, .com is the best, but what's second best. This assumes that you have a general website that doesn't fit into the special categories .edu, .gov, etc.

I'd say .org, probably
.com is definitely preferred. Where I live .ca is good too (Canada)

I usually go in the order of .com, .net, .org and lastly .info

And I usually pick up all the TLDs for my domain. Brand protection.

Thankfully, I got low rates for most of my domains because I'm a reseller.

The next for me would be .net. Looks more professional than .org.
The order would be .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info

Yeah, I take my answer back. I think .net does look better than .org
I don't like .biz or .info much..they remind me of long scammy sales letters...

i'll take net next to com. like com domains, net is more generic than the other available domains.

i would say, .com then .net then .org
after that i'll go for localised country domains
