Finally a TABLEless design. Good job! Looks OK, but the color of the banner is not my type ;) but hey, i am not a single parent ;) good luck with it!

Nice blog, quite simple maybe try to improve your header so it can make your blog stand out. How about some images?

Pictures will help, and I think taking advantage of the <more> tag will too. By themselves those are good posts, but it's an awful lot for the first thing that a visitor sees at your blog.
